Fire Hydrant Repair and Replacement in Raleigh, NC

Fire hydrants are a critical part of Raleigh's water infrastructure, and Water Worx keeps them working when it counts. We provide complete fire hydrant repair, replacement, and installation for commercial, municipal, and private systems across Raleigh — and it's some of the work our crews perform most consistently in the area. Recent Raleigh projects have ranged from full hydrant replacements at properties like Bent Creek and Sumter Square, to post indicator valve (PIV) and isolation valve replacements, to routine servicing of multiple hydrants across a single business district — flushing each unit to clear sediment, replacing worn gaskets, flow testing to confirm pressure, and updating maintenance records so every hydrant is documented and ready for emergency use. Whether a hydrant has been struck by a vehicle, seized with age, or simply needs its annual inspection and flow test, our licensed team handles the job to local fire code with minimal disruption to your property. For property managers, municipalities, and facilities overseeing multiple hydrants, we also offer custom maintenance plans that keep everything tested, compliant, and dependable year-round.

How does retention pond work?
Retention ponds work by accumulating stormwater runoff into a permanent pool. The stormwater is collected by a network of underground pipes trafficking water from storm drains. The ponds will naturally remove pollutants found in the runoff water, eventually releasing small amounts of water back into the ground. Water Worx Services can construct a retention pond for your Raleigh property that is technically accurate as well as aesthetically pleasing. Contact us to schedule a consultation today with one of our highly trained team members.

A domestic water line was accessed before the existing water meter. A new water meter was installed to accurately measure residential water usage. An RPZ Reduced Pressure Zone valve was added to safeguard the plumbing system from backflow issues, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance. An irrigation meter was also installed to separately track water used for irrigation, promoting efficient water management. This meter split configuration allows for distinct monitoring of domestic and irrigation water usage. The installation was executed with precision to ensure optimal performance and reliability of the water system. Each component was carefully installed to maintain system integrity and functionality.

Just serviced 5 hydrants in Brentwood business district. Flushed all units to remove sediment. Lubricated stems and checked for proper operation. Replaced worn gasket on one unit (hydrant #BW-42) that showed minor leakage. Flow tested all hydrants - pressure readings within normal range (52-58 PSI). Painted two hydrants that had faded color coding. All caps secure and accessible. Updated GIS database with maintenance records. All hydrants now ready for emergency use.

Completed emergency water line repair for a residential customer in Brentwood today. Located and exposed a 3/4" copper supply line that had developed a pinhole leak approximately 18" below grade. Water was surfacing in the front yard and creating significant saturation. Excavated a 4'x4' area to access the damaged section, installed a 24" copper replacement section using compression couplings to ensure proper connection. Pressure tested the repair to 80 PSI with no signs of leakage. Backfilled the excavation with appropriate bedding material and compacted in 6" lifts to prevent future settling. Restored lawn area with existing sod and applied seed to disturbed areas. Customer's water service was restored after approximately 3 hours of downtime. Recommended full inspection of remaining copper piping as this type of failure often indicates systemic corrosion issues. Left site clean and organized with all debris removed.

Urgent Backflow Device Maintenance: During a service call at a business location, we discovered their backflow prevention system had failed, threatening the integrity of their water system. My diagnostic assessment revealed a faulty check valve that required immediate attention. I installed a high-grade replacement valve and conducted comprehensive testing across the entire system to verify proper operation. These steps restored the critical safeguard that prevents contaminated water from entering the building's clean water supply.
